India has installed a cumulative 41,724MW of utility-scale solar power capacity as of the end of December 2021. The nation added 7,190MW in the twelve months of 2021, up 174% from 2,617MW installed in 2020. The total project capacity in the pipeline stood at 44,575MW as of December 31, 2021, according to Bridge To India’s India Solar Map for December 2021.

In 2021, ReNew Power commissioned the maximum capacity, accounting for 19.71% of the 7,190MW AC annual addition. It was followed by Adani (14.6% share) and Avaada (10.44%).

JinkoSolar, Longi, and Risen (all Chinese) were the top three module providers, supplying 21.76%, 16.92%, and 5.82% of the estimated 10,807MW DC capacity during the year, respectively.

Chinese companies also led in inverter sales, with Sungrow supplying 32.16% of the 7,190MW AC capacity, Sineng 18.23%, and Huawei 9.69%.

Mahindra led in EPC installations, with an 11.34% share of the 7,190MW AC market. Sterling & Wilson (7.05%) installed the second largest capacity, followed by Tata Power Solar (4.31%).
