HPCL lays foundation stone for 100 MW solar project in Andhra Pradesh
Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd will build the 100 MW solar project at Galiveedu for self-consumption.
Andhra Pradesh chief minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, laid the foundation stone for Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd’s 100 MW mega solar project at Galiveedu Solar Park in Andhra Pradesh recently. The 100 MW solar project is intended for HPCL’s own consumption.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between HPCL and Andhra Pradesh Solar Power Corp. Ltd to set up solar and wind power plants of 500 MW each and a 250 MW pumped storage plant with an investment of INR 10,000 crore.
HPCL is a government-owned oil and natural gas company. To reduce its carbon footprint, the company targets to increase its renewable energy generation portfolio to 2.4 GW in 2027-28 from 184 MW as of 2022-23. Further, it targets 16,870 tpa green hydrogen production capacity by 2027-28, from 3.5 tpa in 2022-23.
