Gautam Solar launches gel battery solution for solar storage

  |   Uncategorized

The company says its gel batteries provide a safer, cost-effective, and long-lasting alternative in the energy storage space where lithium and tubular lead-acid batteries are being used.

Delhi-based Gautam Solar has launched a gel battery to meet the energy storage needs of solar power plants, telecom, and rural electrification.

“With recent instances of lithium batteries catching fire, there is a need for safer energy storage devices. Gautam Solar’s Gel batteries are cost-effective, thermally stable, long-lasting, and sealed maintenance-free with no topping up ever required,” stated Gautam Solar.

The gel battery launch is in sync with Gautam Solar’s bi-facial and mono-facial solar panel range for PV power plants. The company expects its gel batteries to give a stronger and better alternative in the energy storage space where lithium and tubular lead-acid batteries are being used.

Tubular gel batteries have extensive demand and applications in energy storage and distribution, telecommunication, and electric mobility. These offer many advantages over standard batteries when paired with solar PV systems. Gel batteries are highly durable, lightweight, and can endure extreme temperature fluctuations, which makes these an ideal choice for the renewable sector. Gel batteries contain gelled electrolytes, which minimizes the risk of evaporation, spillage, and use-related corrosion.
Gautam Solar’s new gel batteries provide a commercially-viable energy storage solution for solar energy production. These batteries don’t weigh as much as standard batteries and don’t require any re-filling of acid/water. Other salient features include excellent deep discharge capability, high recharge efficiency, superior cycle life, and long shelf life.

“We have designed the product [gel battery] keeping the solar market in mind, and we hope that this could be a solution for battery backup concerns that many commercial players have. We will continue to transform and develop products that boost the renewable energy sector, and more importantly, we aim to keep prices affordable through home-grown innovations,” said Gautam Mohanka, managing director, Gautam Solar.
